How We’re Helping
Love Wild Horses' impact, our amazing volunteers and teams, and our esteemed Board of Directors are growing in our work to help and heal the effects of climate change for grassland ecosystems and surrounding communities and with the saving of at-risk wild horses.
We are in Phase 5 of an exciting first of its kind LWH’s Climate Change wildfire mitigation, equine ReWilding, and land revitalization study in Northern Nevada on 480 acres of protected land.
Our study Designer is Dr. Cintra Agee, Professor of Native American and Environmental Studies at Humboldt, California's College of the Redwoods. Professor Cintra Agee brings with her doctorate from Yale and is a Director on our esteemed Board; she is lending her brilliance to help -bring needed science forward about carbon sequestration, healing soils, improving ecosystem biodiversity, mitigating impacts of wildfires and climate change, and the rewilding of horses.
Our 2023 plan is to create five studies in five different climate regions in the West to understand better and address the needs of each unique grassland ecosystem to regenerate and improve its biodiversity and to better protect surrounding communities from the impacts of climate change and wildfires.
Surrounding each LWH study, we will be hiring undergrad native youth and supporting Indigenous elders and native ceremonies.
